Mac Oxblood Red Lipstick

MAC Studded Kiss is a matte, deep, oxblood red with cool undertones on my medium brown skin (roughly NW40-43). It goes on smooth and opaque, and lasts like a typical MAC matte lipstick. Mac Toledo Oxblood Dupes: The world is full of pinks. At least the world of lipsticks is. And one is never too bored of pinks.I mean how anyone can ever be- there are just soo many pinks you can’t have them all but yes you definitely need to get your hands on a selective few and MAC Toledo Oxblood looks like just the shade that needs to be in your purse.

  • Being more of purple or brown, yet looks red enough to be convinced that you are wearing a red lipstick. Here are the popular oxblood lipsticks in India.

It seems that M.A.C has opened the floodgates this month with three different collections. The Bao Bao Wan collection which sold out within a blink of an eye, the Cinderella collection which also sold out within hours and finally the Toledo collection which I will be reviewing today. If I am going to be totally honest with you, I wasn’t hugely enamoured with the collection when I first saw it on the site. All I can say is… MORE FOOL ME!!!

The packaging is absolutely beautiful and has this lovely matte finish to it. The design is very trendy and screams high fashion, which reflects the drama that the Toledo brand represents. My only qualm with this packaging, however, is that it has a white body and therefore is a stain magnet. Its matte finish means that any finger marks or stains can mark the surface easily with regular use ( which in my case is inevitable), so this could be off-putting for some people. However, the quality of the products that I purchased are amazing, and I do not have any regrets with my purchases. The shade ‘Oxblood’ in the lipstick category was sold out almost immediately on the website, but I managed to pick one up in store. I purchased ‘Barbecue’ from the website, which is a red-orange colour and ‘Tenor voice’ which is another true red. I didn’t bother with ‘Sin’ as I already own this colour and ‘Victoriana’ which looked a bit too pink toned for my liking. The collection also has eyeshadow palettes and blushers that looked amazing but after watching some video reviews, I wasn’t sure that the colours would necessarily suit me. I also have some of the colours that are in the palettes which was another deterrent when it came to the decision of not of buying much from this collection. The quality of the products in this collection are far superior to that of the Cinderella collection. The lipsticks are buttery and moisturising despite their matte finish. The gloss also looks amazing on top of the lipstick.

  • Barbecue leaves a lovely orange-red hue on the lips. I think its pretty comparable to ‘So Chaud’ or ‘Lady Danger’, maybe with a touch more red on the lips.
  • Tenor Voice is a true blue toned red similar to ‘Ruby Woo’ but much more vibrant and comfortable to wear on the lips.
  • ‘Oxblood’ is a rather bizarre choice of name for this nude-pink lipstick. This lipstick needed to be swiped on the lips a couple of times to ensure an opaque coverage of the lips, without the colour settling into the lines. The lip gloss also seemed to add to the streaky effect of the lipstick. I found that when I applied the lip gloss on top of the lipstick it was moving the product around a little. However once it was properly filled in, it made for a lovely nude which I have been wearing to my lectures ever since.

Overall, I think the items that I bought from the collection were all really good. I loved the quality of the lipsticks which were buttery during application but matte when the colours were set. I love ‘Ruby Woo’, but I absolutely hate the drying effect it has on my lips when I apply it. These colours answer my prayers for more wearable matte lipsticks from M.A.C’s matte range of lip colours. I am actually a little curious to see whether the ‘Sin’ lipstick in this collection has a buttery formula. I bought ‘Sin’ with the normal packaging a couple of months ago and found it to be very drying on the lips. I wasn’t too impressed with the colour either, I would be interested to know whether they have used a different formula for this version of the lipstick, so if you have decided to get this colour or any other shades from this collection, let me know what you think. Who knows, I might be tempted to purchase some more of these items to try out !
